Panaji, Feb 8. (PTI): Fontainhas, a small housing lane rich in the Indo-Portuguese architecture, is set to turn into an art gallery during a five-day local festival beginning on February 9.Fontainhas Festival of Arts, a brainchild of Goa Heritage Action Group, artistically salutes unique Indo-Portuguese architecture which is found in abundance in a bunch of houses tucked in a corner of the city.
"The living rooms of 17 huge houses would be converted into art galleries, while the Fontainhas lane will be dotted with creations of artists," Heta Pandit, Secretary, Goa Heritage Action Group, said.
"We would like to call it Goan domestic architecture rather than Indo-Portuguese," Pandit said.
Será que havendo uma Rua de Ourém em Goa, o bairro das Fontainhas tenha alguma coisa a ver com as Fontainhas de Seiça ou Fontainhas da Serra? Uma pista que pode ajudar a relacionar Ourém e Goa foi a presença do antigo governador José Januário Lapa que também tinha o título de Visconde de Vila Nova de Ourém.
Fontainhas, named after a spring existing in the locality, was beautified in 1855 by then Portuguese Governor, Jose Januario Lapa Visconte Villa Nova D'ourem.
Lembrando a moda das geminações, Ourém, se calhar, tinha muito a ganhar em tentar reatar ligações com Goa. Uma sugestão para as elites dirigentes (renovadas ou não). Olhem que Cavaco Silva já lá esteve, apesar de não gostar do picante. E Goa é bem melhor que uma cidade dos subúrbios de Paris.
